It took the Great Depression to make a few steps in the right direction. Another depression is the only hope I see to continue that progress towards a society that is not based on greed and consumption. (Perhaps I'm being too cynical by resorting to a depression as my only hope, but not so cynical that I think humans are greedy and superficial by nature. It is flawed economic systems and the culture they produce that corrupt human nature). I realize the hardships, even suffering and death, that a depression can bring. But try and convince me that continuing the current global economic system will not cause more suffering and more death, not too mention the spiritual deficits of a consumer society.<BR/><BR/>(But anyway since I and everybody else will continue to buy things in the meantime, I appreciate the Green ideas, etc.)<BR/><BR/>-Nathan AricoAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
