New York Times Front Page: Country Rallies Behind Itself When Feeling Attacked

The New York Times today actually thought it was news that a country who's media says they were attacked and only shows images the government wants, are unified behind the country... of course they are.

When feeling attacked who isn't defensive. We all want to believe that our country's actions in response are just.

But first of all a contention that only a thousand people have protested is disingenuous to downright lies. By Israeli government's own estimates 10's of thousands of Jews took to the streets in Tel Aviv to say enough. Another 150,000 Israeli citizens across the country took parts in protests to say enough is enough.

Something I talked about in my post about wanting an End to the Violence.

You can see the video on Youtube for yourself. There is very vocal objections in Israel.

But the power of the media is important not just for its complete failure to be correct here.

It is easy to rally support to the military in times of conflict against senseless killing. It is even easier for the media to go long.

Instead of doing the job to provide context and ask the important question about the cost of the military action. And what does success actually look like?

Yes in such a country it is easy to loose perspective where the tragic death of a few can be used to support the murder of 100 times as many darker looking people in vengeance.

Thank you NY Times for making so clear the power of the media can be on a country and how far you have fallen from bringing "the best news fit to print."
