It doesn't have to be unsustainable. IdealBite - gives you Green ideas for anything you can think of. Tree Hugger - isn't a green shopping site but does have great green ideas and links to good sites. Try Tree Hugger Gift Guide - great resource. We should not sell our souls to save the blessed "Economy"
The only means of real reform is to help this corrupt, prejudiced, and immoral economic system die. It took the Great Depression to make a few steps in the right direction. Another depression is the only hope I see to continue that progress towards a society that is not based on greed and consumption. (Perhaps I'm being too cynical by resorting to a depression as my only hope, but not so cynical that I think humans are greedy and superficial by nature. It is flawed economic systems and the culture they produce that corrupt human nature). I realize the hardships, even suffering and death, that a depression can bring. But try and convince me that continuing the current global economic system will not cause more suffering and more death, not too mention the spiritual deficits of a consumer society.
(But anyway since I and everybody else will continue to buy things in the meantime, I appreciate the Green ideas, etc.)
