Daily Show I love you, But why are you marginalizing Cynthia McKinney?

Cynthia McKinney is the green party candidate not Ralph Nader.

Colbert has had Bob Barr on… Why not Cynthia?

Cynthia McKinney was a congresswoman from Georgia, she has served this country. She was the first woman AND the first Black American nominated to a major party. She deserves time to talk about her issues.

Barr and Nader get on TV, why not McKinney a former Congress member from a major US city Atlanta?

The one you think would be best, Comedy Central is completely ignoring her.
Comedy Central Joins In The Marginalizing (Actually That Should Read Invisibilizing) of Presidential Candidate Cynthia McKinney

Last week we wrote a post about the Antiwar.com ad about presidential candidates that did not include Cynthia McKinney, candidate for the Green Party. Now it seems the folks at Comedy Central are pulling the same stunt. On their Indecision2008 website, the have a cute little compare the candidates graphic,

Notice anything missing? This time Jindal made the list, but not only do they conspicuously cross out Clinton–not once but twice (why not list and cross out the other gazillion candidates who dropped out)– but once again McKinney is not listed as a candidate.

Want to voice your opinion? They don’t provide any leave a comment on their blog, but you can leave a comment on their blog :-). You can also contact Comedy Central here, pick “the Daily Show with Jon Stewart”.

Here is a sample letter, with thanks to FPN member Amee Chew:
Hey, the Daily Show should stop invisibilizing Cynthia McKinney’s Green Party candidacy for president!

She isn’t included in any of the Indecision2008.com webpage’s widgettes on the candidates, including “Candidate Knock-Out” and the “Candidate Stock Tracker.” But the latter has lots of other minor (male) candidates like Paul, Barr, and Nader!
Now especially, we need anti-war woman and minority candidates who can stand for an alternative to Hillary Clinton’s monopoly on a female candidacy. The alternative to even Obama’s politics doesn’t hurt either.
She deserves to be heard. On all media including the preeminent news program for my generation.

The reason that Comedy Central, the Daily Show, etc. are marginalizing Cynthia McKinney is that she's batshit crazy! Anyone who claims that the government executed 5000 prisoners and dumped them in a swamp during hurricane Katrina is not operating on all cylinders. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbEEyTIVKMI
She's also a racist and anti-Semite to boot. I don't know what your blog is all about but I suspect you need your meds too.

Thank you Danny I appreciate your comments. While as I have said I find many of McKinney's comments out of bounds I think that for Democracy and for the country all views should be highlighted and debated in the open.

The Daily Show is the place where young people get such information and thus a coveted arena for discussion.

Personally I find Sarah Palin's and McCain's decision to extend the tours in Iraq just as detestable as are many other policies.
